Hey mom and dad and family and everyone!!
So sorry mom I didn't get to tell you where I was moved to because at first we couldn't find the library and when we did it was closed for the new year. lame. Though you haven't emailed me yet either!!!
But yeah Tuesday morning was transfers and.... I am in the Westland area, literally just west of Dearborn (we share a border), whitewashing with Elder Plange. Whitewashing means both the missionaries here left and both of us are new, so we had some fun this past week trying to navigate our way around and meeting the people in the ward. Neither of us knew anything about our area, ward, or investigators at first but we're finally figuring things out, its been pretty hectic. But fun.
Elder Plange is sweet, he was born in Ghana but has lived in New Jersey since he was 7. I actually have the privilege of 'killing' him off- this is his last transfer of his mission so he goes home in 5 weeks!! I'm already learning a lot from him and having a great time, he actually just served with E. Van Bibber so thats fun, he already knows a lot about me thanks to E. Van Bibber.
But yeah things have been crazy. We've been in the dark, for awhile we didn't even have a map in the car. Oh and I drive because E. Plange isn't allowed to. So its been fun, we do a lot of tracting and trying to figure out where things are and people live. But we've already had success, we tracted into one lady and taught her the next night, and I'm very excited to teach her again, it was an amazing lesson and the spirit was strong. She should be coming to church soon as well.
We also taught a referral, an awesome guy from Nigeria who showed up to church!! So that was awesome. We also have two investigators who are kids, Mckayla (9) whose mom is a member but they've been inactive for a little while, and Tony (14) whose mom was inactive for a long time but now is an active member. There's a chance we'll get some baptisms this transfer, and I have high hopes for how things are gonna turn out.
Luckily we have a sweet ward mission leader who is very involved, he had us over for dinner last Friday. Oh and we also have another set of missionaries in the ward, some really cool guys, and E. Bird (my mtc comp) is in my district. Whats weird is church starts at 2!!! Waay too late but whatever.
But yeah things are fun here. I'm excited to see what happens. I love missionary work and look forward to serving in the Westland ward. Even though we're right next to Dearborn, this place has a totally different feel. We're right above the airport, have a lot of trailer parks but also nicer areas. Its gonna be fun.
Well I can't remember anything random right now.
love,
Elder Lambert
