Mom, Dad, and family-
Things are good here in Dearborn. Last Monday, we had a dinner appointment at a couples house (the Gutierrez's, in their 50s or 60 I think) with Susie Milhan. It was great to have a real dinner with some members. Susie will be getting baptized this saturday, so my second baptism is coming up!!!!! She's doing great as always, and I'll give a short talk on confirmation. I wish I could baptize her, and look forward to the day when I do get to actually baptize somebody.
Sister Ford came to church, and also the the mission fireside and ward halloween party, so she's doing great and might truly be progressing towards a baptism I think. We haven't been able to see that family again, but oh well.
This week went by pretty fast though. Thursday was the Mission fireside, were two recent converts spoke and gave very cool stories, and then Elder Garn of the 2nd 70 spoke. He did very well, and its always cool to see all the other missionaries and how they're doing. But the highlight was friday's zone conference/mission tour. Elder Garn and president Rawson both gave awesome instruction, it was really cool to hear from each of them. And we got to go with some missionaries up in Detroit, and of course hung out with a bunch of other missionaries, so thats always fun.
There was also a ward halloween party/chili cook off friday night, I was a judge so I tried like 20 different chilis. The gym was way decked out, and there were tons of kids dressed up who went around and got candy in the halls. It was a lot of fun, and we got 3 investigators there as well. Also this week I went on exchanges with Elder May, an awesome guy from Oregon. We had a great time, despite him having a cold, and one random guy gave us $10 to buy lunch!!
Yesterday was actually pretty good, we went over to the Prescotts (he's the big tongan guy in the bishropic and is way awesome, she's very nice, and they have 4 cute girls) and had a way good lesson. All of us, including their girls (ages 8,6, and 4 i think) bore our testimonies, and did role-playing where we shared something about the church while the other person pretended to be our friend. Haha it was so fun and the little girls were darling, and they have a two-year-old who was hilarious. Luckily, we've been randomly given food and fed a bunch lately, cuz we've both been really low on cash. Somehow I spent way to much money this month on non-essentials. I'm gonna really work on budgeting my money this next month.
Its been a bit slow lately, but I still love it. Serving the Lord is the best thing anyone could ever be doing. Its amazing how time has flown by, I've already been out 4 months and am 1/6th of the way through my mission!!! Its weird because Christmas day will be my 6 month mark. I love this work, the spirit at our zone conference was very powerful, and theres nothing better than the spirit you can feel in faithful member's homes. I encounter hardened people and struggles everyday, but my testimony just keeps me strong and keeps me going. I know this is God's kingdom, and the more I learn the more I am fully convinced of such. Serving a mission is serving God, and it is amazing. The church is so true!
random things:
It has been pretty cold, in the 40s a lot, though yesterday it was like 60 all day. I don't have good gloves to wear(huge snow ones is all), so I'll probably buy something, and I have a ear head-band thing to wear.
We drive everyday except when we have car-fast days or bike to save miles. I haven't driven yet, but i think I finally got approved to drive, so maybe soon.
I have read Jesus the Christ, Our Search for Happiness, and am starting Our Heritage. I also just started the New Testament, and plan on reading all the way through that, which I am very excited to do.
I hope dad got my birthday card, it sounds like it was a good day. How's the play thing going and what is it about?
Hows BYU and the rest of the football world doing?
Last week, we went outside and the car next to ours had all the wheels stolen off of it. It was retarded. Man this world can be pathetic sometimes.
I look forward to the package. I really am needing the stuff to keep warm now. And Mom, I'm probably going to need another long sleeved sweater like the ones I got. I'll update you next week if there's anything more I need for the cold. I thought about buying a white underarmour top, but they cost like 50 bucks, so way too expensive. I'll probably buy some gloves here soon, maybe sweat pants also.
well, thats all for now. Have a good week, read the scriptures, and don't forget to pray!!!
