Dear Mom, Dad, family and such:
This past week was strange but good. A ton of tracting and some very slow times, but also a lot of good things going on. We taught Steve Mordi, the guy from Africa, a week ago and he loves the church. He asked all sorts of weird questions about callings and about things to expect if he were to join the church. But he loved sacrament and sees something there that he doesn't see anywhere else. He said it felt like 'home'- straight out of Preach My Gospel or something. Crazy.
Our 9-year-old girl we're teaching, whose mother is a member, came to church though. Shes doing great, we taught her the Plan of Salvation and she understood it very well, it was awesome to hear her explain some of the things herself. Tony, our 14-year-old, is a pretty cool kid as well. We taught him, and though his mom is kinda crazy, he is real cool and very interested in learning if this is true. He's overall a smart kid and its gonna be fun to see how he progresses.
Besides that we've just been trying to meet and contact people like crazy- I still feel in the dark about people in the ward but at the same time have might quite a few more people. We had dinner at one family on Friday, then last night had dinner with another family. This ward is crazy in that tons of people are related- its kinda crazy and slightly confusing. It seems like everyone is related to someone in the ward, except of course the people who moved from utah.
But Elder Plange is cool- its weird he goes home in 4 weeks. I've already learned a lot from him, and we're having a pretty good time. This next week should be really really good, and I think we'll see a lot of success. Its been a bit snowy, which is no fun when you're driving, but oh well. Haha luckily I haven't slipped really, though E. Plange has slipped twice on the ice already!!
We also had zone conference last week, so that was way fun. President gave us some powerful instruction as always, mentioning the fact that michigan has the worst unemployment in the nation right now. Its always cool to hear him talk and hear his inspiring words, which are definitely revelation meant just for us and this mission, to help us best progress the Lord's work forward in this part of Michigan.
love you all, hope things are going well!
-Elder Connor Lambert
ps
I need my camera card
I no longer need any winter stuff- I have soo much stuff its unreal, but when you're out in the cold all the time you realize you need it
I hope to be sending some cd cases home here soon, they are way to bulky to lug around, I'm just worried about how much it costs but hopefully it won't be bad. I'm low on money but should be good I think- though I have to pay for laundry now which is lame, its like 20 bucks a month!!
oh and our companionship motto is 'the south shall rise again' in that we're the south elders in the ward and we will one up the north elders haha
