Dear Mom, Dad, and family-

This past week was an interesting week- certainly not a slow week, but not a fast week either.  On Tuesday I said goodbye to Elder Plange, who is now at home having a merry time (or so I suppose) and as I said I have a new companion, Elder Gaines.  Things are going well, they definitely could be much better but we've had a decent week.

McKayla, our 9-year-old, is getting baptized this saturday!!!  Theres even a chance that I could baptize her,  which would be awesome.  I always kind of thought that having 9-year-old 'convert' baptisms was lame, but it has been fun and truly a blessing to be able to teach her and her family and help them come to church and feel the spirit there.  I'm very much looking forward to the baptism, even if I don't baptize I may get to confirm her- but regardless it is going to be sweet.

We also made some wonderful bounds with my African friend Steve Mordi- we had a member at the lesson (which was funny because Steve often addressed questions to him rather than to us - luckily he was more than capable of answering), we set a new baptism date for March, and he made it to all 3 hours of church!!! The lesson was amazing- the spirit was present and very powerful, and Elder Gaines bore very powerful testimony.  It was an amazing, joyful experience- and truly what true joy is all about.  I was worried due to the snow if he would make it to church, but luckily the roads were overall clear and it was awesome to see him in all three hours!!!

Besides that we had a fun time at Brother Capener's house- don't know if I've mentioned him before.  He's a less-active guy who's wife's interested in the church, so we'll be teaching her soon.  He's an interesting guy- he served military duty in Iraq, so he always tells us stories about his combat experiences and things, and he sadly suffers a bit from PTSD.  He also loves cars and will hopefully one day be able to drive us in his supercharged Shelby Cobra.  And he always tells us of his brother- a very rich, top-notch surgeon who lives in Idaho and apparently won a lawsuit against the federal government over malpractice or something with the lawyer Taft (?) who I guess is a big-wig attorney who also happens to be LDS.  So yeah this guy is a story-teller and a fun guy, he seems to have a good testimony its kinda sad he isn't active.  But we hopefully will teach his wife very soon, which I look forward to.

Besides that not too much going on- lots of tracting as always, though Elder Gaines has a talent of really engaging people and bearing powerful testimony to everyone we meet- I truly think we can find success off of tracting soon and actually teach somebody.

For Valentine's day nothing happened except that a member, Angela Stokey, and her brother Ryan took us out to Applebee's for dinner which was sweet and a lot of fun.  We also had a ward missionary fireside last night where our Mission Pres. gave a sweet lecture on sharing the gospel with our friends- I hope it truly had an impact on people, because it is through members and their invitations that true success comes!!

We also had the opportunity to give Ursula Badertshcer a blessing last night- she's about 9, autistic and suffers from epilepsy and such as well, and is going in for brain surgery(!) today.  It was strange because most of the people present probably didn't have much faith in the blessing itself, but the blessing was powerful and Ursula, who is an extremely rambunctious little child, sat still the entire time.  For some strange reason she calls the missionaries demons, so after the blessing she said "Thank you demons" which was strange but charming at the same time.  She also said "Thank you Dr. Seuss" which was equally funny, I guess she'd watched 'Horton hear a who' or something recently.  but she's a funny little girl and I pray things work out with her surgery.

Well It was great to hear from everyone, I'm glad things are good at the homefront.  Sounds like Landon's finally got some semblance of manhood- its weird cuz in my last ward one 15-year-old kid was as tall as me and weighed about the same, and the kid Tony we're teaching is in the same grade as Landon but is almost my height and weighs more than me easily.  So its weird that both of them are the same age as Landon!!  Crazy!!  Think about it Landon- one of these days I'll be baptizing a kid your age!

Its also awesome to hear about Jeff leaving on his mission holy cow!!!  Thats so cool I should write him while he's in the MTC or something.  And thats amazing about Danielle and whatshisface getting sealed, and a great opportunity for Jeff to attend that.  I realize just what a blessing it was to attend Trenton's sealing- truly an amazing ordinance is performed in these temples.  I look forward to when my first baptism, Tony Hayes, gets to be sealed to his soon-to-be wife Rachel!!  Man its awesome to have that goal.

I know this church is Christ's restored church, with restored truths that cannot be found anywhere else.  The priesthood authority is truly on this earth, in and only in this church.  We are all brothers and sisters, and have the solemn responsibility to share with them the truths that can change their lives for the better.  I'm grateful to serve my Lord and King, and to see the spirit touch people's hearts and affect them in a way nothing else can.

love,

Elder Lambert
